Il existait une corporation des mpaka amaninomby ou "collecteurs d'urine de boeuf" qui était l'objet de mainte plaisanterie ; peut être une au moins de ces plantes leur est-elle dédiée par dérision.
On appelle aussi en langue populaire
amaninomby les boissons alcooliques de très mauvaise qualité.
